The Paraeducatior I is responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students to increase student retention, academic success, and support post-secondary goals. Also, will support new student and freshman orientation programs aimed at motivating and engaging new students. Assisting students with goal setting and providing continuous communication and follow-up to maximize goal attainment. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a high school setting
  • High School Diploma or GED and
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required
  • 60 College Credits or Passing Grade on ParaPro Test
  • Experience working with a diversified student population
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Ability to work independently
  • Have experience in peer leadership and parental involvement.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with no serious violations.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administrations, parents and the community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
  • Ability to use constructive techniques to resolve issues DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support student orientation process and transition processes.
  • Teach groups to support blended learning strategies with support from content teacher.
  • Assists students with setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles and defining steps in education and career planning
  • Build rapport and trust with students to support successful goal completion
  • Monitor student progress toward goals.
  • Monitor LMS progress in class progress in SIS.
  • Conduct follow up with program participants.
  • Offer advice as needed.
  • Support instructors and program efforts to infuse instruction with persistence and success strategies.
  • Aid students and instructors to solve problems related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, and attendance.
  • Develop and present lessons and or workshops.
  • Monitor student assessment scores and attendance.
  • Teach students how to advocate for themselves.
  • Maintain advising log or case management files to track contact hours, issues, and outcomes of advising sessions and student portfolios with appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Communicate with students via call, text, or meeting to set goals and develop work plans to ensure success in courses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal and/or Department Instructional Leader: Member of MTSS, Department Meetings, Professional development and Staff meetings (These essential functions are not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of all duties performed.
