POSITION SUMMARY:

 

To assist the Athletic Director in maintaining a high level of student athlete involvement through injury free programs.  

 

This position will be .4 Teacher/Classroom and .6 Athletic Training duties. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required;
  • Valid Arizona Athletic Training Certifications and Licensures (preferred)
  • Obtain a teaching certificate in the State of Arizona. Can obtain in i=the interim Emergency Teaching Certificate.
  • Related Medical Certifications and/or Licensures
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • Experience in evaluating injuries, taping for practices and games, and keeping student athletes’ injuries minimal
  • Ability to work with staff, teachers and students at various educational levels
    • This position is for 9 month contract based on the certified period pay.  
  • Proficient communicator with excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of district staff and with a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Maintains punctual and regular attendance.
  • Work closely with and maintain open communication with the Athletic Director to provide a safe and positive student athletic environment.
  • Ensure overall athletes are tended to appropriately before, during and after all athletic events including practices.
  • Work closely with coaches and staff to ensure student athletes are protected from injury and kept safe.
  • Work closely with athletic department in student athlete initial athletic eligibility process
  • Available/accessible to the greatest degree possible; with respect to multiple events & activities happening simultaneously at a campus for practices and home games.
  • Responsible for contacting the proper authorities and assistance if a student athlete is injured outside of the trainer’s expertise.
  • Reports any violations of policies and procedures when it comes to keeping student athletes safe.
  • Responsible for all appropriate paperwork and reports for student athlete injuries and treatment.
  • Provide annual training for coaches for basic student safety needs to include First Aid and CPR.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee must use hands, arms and fingers to input data, handle, feel or reach. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.  Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check. Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, (if necessary), will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work. 

 

TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary..
